What's Happening on Facebook

At Eureka! Palouse, you're the Maker!  You can operate the 3d printers directly, you get to choose the materials, slicer settings, and have full control of your prints.  Our volunteers can help you on a 1 on 1 basis, and we also periodically offer 3d printing classes.

There are 3 printers at Eureka! Palouse:

The Lulzbot TAZ 5:  This machine has a large 298mm x 275mm x 250mm (11.7” x 10.8” x 9.8”) print area.  Slicing is done in the lulzbot edition of Cura.  This printer is capable of using PLA, ABS, HIPS, and Nylon filament.  It is currently configured with a 0.5mm diameter nozzle.  Some documentation on using the TAZ 5 at Eureka! is available here.

The Ekocycle: This machine only has a 152 .40 mm x 152 .40 mm x 152 .40 mm (6” x 6” x 6”) print area, but it is dual extruder.  This means you can have 2 colors or two different kinds of filament in your print.  Filament selection is limited, however.

The Flashforge Finder: This machine has a 140 mm x 140 mm x 140 H mm (5.5” X 5.5” X 5.5”) print area.  This machine produces very accurate prints.

When printing, you must be present for at least the first 5 layers of your print.  If a print is going to fail, it is most often due to build platform adhesion, which should become obvious within the first 5 layers.
